ყორღანი – კავკასიონი (Kurgan – Caucasian)

ბედნიერი დღე! I’ve finally found a really good traditional black metal band from Georgia! Heavy on synth and mood, and inaudible growls(in what I hope is Georgian). This is what I’ve been searching for the last 3-4 years! გამომყევი ქვესკნელში სამოგზაუროთ!

Hellébore / Organisation Calvaire – Table Rase

Table Rase

Anybody remember the Canadian black metal band Hellébore that I wrote about a while back? That cassette was really neat and left me wanting for more, but noting new seemed to spring forth from them. Until that fateful day when I came across Mr. V from the French experimental un-orthodox black metal project Organisation Calvaire, who whispered softly about an amalgamation of old and new ways of the dark sonic arts. And now the time is here to finally hear what that most unholy of collaborations has begotten!

Top Whatever Albums I Remembered From 2015 In No Particular Order (Or, Blimey That’s a Lot of Black Metal Albums Mate)

topbla

It’s that time of the year again, well it was a month ago, when it’s time to make an arbitrary list of albums released last year that you liked the most. I don’t really care about these kinds of lists, but for your enjoyment, here is an arbitrary list of albums what I liked! Get on with it!

Organisation Calvaire – Impardonnable | Urbansvart – Translucide

Impardonnable

Alright, before I scramble together a list of the best whatever albums of last year, let’s take a quick little listen to two French black/prog? metal project I’ve been meaning to have written about quite a while back. Organisation Calvaire and Urbansvart by Kalvr!

By the way, what was the deal with 2015? For some reason I’ve never put any mind to the year albums were released last year so I can barely remember any released in 2015… I know it’s been a good year for experimental music, but it feels like nothing was released. But, maybe I’ve just gotten a brain tumor and had a music memory lapse.  Forget it, let’s listen to Diapsiqui- I mean Organisation Calvaire!

Dormant Seed – A Sad Memory

dormant

I just recently found out about a thing called “NBBMN”, which apparently isn’t a acronym for a new pretentious sub-genre, but a acronym for “Nothing But Black Metal November”. Black metal fan’s respons to no-shave-november, or inktober, I guess. Quite a silly thing though if you ask me, because isn’t every month really black metal-month? It is to me at least. Still, I am going to review some black metal albums this month I think, and the first one up is the first release by the new South American, one man band, Dormant Seed!

Law of the Rope / Crown of Bone – Split CS

LotRCoB

Noise and black metal, a combination that is almost guarantied to be successful. Both genres are centered around the same or similar themes; death, evil, discord, chaos, and general unpleasantness. Even the music sounds somewhat the same, at least to some people. Even though the genres share the same philosophies and sound, there haven’t been THAT many splits from noise/BM-bands. Mostly from the fringe edges of both genres, and the bands that try to make a fusion with the genres often end up with a bland mess, than with something stunning. Maybe its because the inherent chaos and discord in both the styles means that neither of them can get along, or that both of them are too dominant so just one becomes audible; which is what has happened to this cassette, sadly.

Fanchon – S/T EP

Fanchon

Can you spell it!? W-R-I-T-E-R-S-B-L-O-C-K! Yay for sitting on your arse and not doing anything for a few weeks! I was trying to unravel the mystery of the latest Zerfalt cassette on the YDLMIER label, and I fell into a terrible writer’s block. But I’m on my way out of it now, and taking it easy with a cassette I was given recently by Negation Records. Because what’s easier than a new EP from a blackened/black metal/crust/experimental/thrash/death metal band on a German indie music label?
